Here are some of the ways you can be the source of help and hope for our city
during the COVID-19 pandemic...
Support the Charities who are helping the city. Mission 7, Kingdom Coffee, Calgary Food Bank, Hope Mission Calgary to name a few. Now more than ever the people of our city will be using these types of services. Help fill their shelves and donate to them.
Check on your neighbours. Put a post-it note on your neighbours’ doors with your contact details and offer them your assistance.
Do something for our senior citizens. Assist them in picking up groceries or medications or have your children create cards for those in residences.
Get on the phone. Check-in on seniors, single moms, students, and anyone who may just need a shoulder to lean on and talk through things with.
Social media with a purpose. Don’t spread fear or anxiety online. Instead, use your social platforms to bring peace and hope.
Join your community’s Facebook group. Many communities have their own Facebook group. Join the group and see where you can serve.
Encourage medical staff. Reach out to the employees in the medical field. Many are working around the clock caring for patients and responding to needs. Consider sending care packages and notes to thank them and let them know you’re praying for them.
Be Generous. While hitting the streets in person may not be the wisest form of action – serving through financial generosity may change someone’s life. You can do that here.
Support local restaurants. Order takeout (and pick up an extra meal for a neighbour or someone in need).
Pray. One of the best things you can do for the people in your neighbourhood is pray for them.
Assistance. If you know anyone 65+ or a medical professional, our church would like to offer grocery pick up and, if needed, pay for groceries. Get them to fill out this form.
